December Goal Review
Ok folks, lots of goal setting lately.
At the beginning of the year, I always create a vision board with the main goals that I want to accomplish in the upcoming year. That is fabulous, but unless you make them measurable and quantifiable, it will be harder to make sure that they are reached. And because I have no sense of shame, I hash out my goals on the internets where you can all hold me accountable and I am happy to return the favour!
I made 5 goals for December and I think I did a fairly decent job of reaching them, even though it was a relaxing and restorative holiday season for me.
1. Enjoy a beautiful trip to Arizona with my family and hike down into the Grand Canyon with my father. A++
Destroyed this goal! My dad and I had such a fabulous time trekking into the canyon and back complete with amazing conversations, wonderful memories and a bit of owning the Canyon! I was so proud of how quickly he scaled the inclines and I look forward to doing some adventures with him in the future! I get it from someone!! 😀
2. Create a vision board for 2014 and assess how I did for 2013. A+
Done! You can check out my goals for 2014 here. I had a fabulous time creating the board, now I just need to hang it up above my desk where I see it every day!
3. Spend some time re-vamping my space. A
I had an idea to take my old race bibs and create a border all around my room. This is a peek at a section of my wall. I have to admit, I am not inclined to be a fabulous decorator, I more lean toward the functional over the beautiful when it comes to interior design, but it warms up the room and fills it with memories of some pretty wonderful races!
4. Begin physiotherapy on my ankle. A
I saw a local specialist and he has been fabulous to restoring my achilles back to normal functioning! I have been following his instructions for therapy and I have discovered a notable difference. I took the above picture on the day that he announced I can go back to running!
5. Focus my time more on others needs than my own. A
Over the holidays, I worked with an organization called House of Friendship on a campaign called 12 Days for Good where we did awareness and actions to perpetuate goodwill in Waterloo Region. I had such a ball that I am continuing on with one of their committees to do another campaign in February. If you are wanting to help out, let me know!
So with a new month of January stretching in front of me, what do I want to accomplish this month?
1. Sign up and confirm all my races for 2014.
I’ve made the plans, now it’s time to get those registrations in! I will be sharing the list with you next week and I would love for you to come join me!
2. Work with my naturopath to clean up my diet.
We did an allergy test before the holidays and I am seeing her this week to create a plan going forward with optimal nutrition. For someone who loves food to a state that is just beyond all understanding , tweaking my diet to optimize performance could prove tricky for me depending on what we are working on. Fingers crossed on this one.
3. Renew my CPR and first aid certification.
As a fitness instructor, I need to renew my CPR yearly. I try and get it renewed every January to ensure that I am all refreshed on content and ready to save lives!
4. Spend some time in Toronto with these lovely ladies.
I have been so blessed to be surrounded by such a fabulous blogging community (including YOU!) and I am excited to dream and scheme some race plans with girls and meet the fabulous Krysten!
5. Organize my marketing plans for the upcoming year at work.
I’ve done a lot of organizing in my personal and athletic life, this month, I am focusing on creating some air tight plans at work to make sure it is the best year yet.
