Headed out to the Mountains, Leaving with a Giveaway!

Right now, my living room looks a bit like this:

I am collecting everything I need to get ready to GO! I am working off of a long list of requirements for the race. It is my first stage race, I did a stage expedition in 2013, but this is the first time that I am racing against the clock. This means that I am taking an extra bag of luggage with me than I normally would because I need to haul my thermarest and sleeping bag, trekking poles, hydration pack and a lot of other things that I normally wouldn’t need.

A few of you were asking for some more details on Transrockies. The guide says:

120 miles and 20,000 feet of climbing means it’s no ordinary run. With elevations up to 12,500 feet, high moumtain passes, creek crossings and rough terrain, Transrockies is a true challenge. It’s a difficult but doable bucket-list undertaking for those seeking true outdoor adventure.

Want more information on the stages, maps and details of the race? Check out this year’s guide here.

A couple things that I am taking with me:

For my hydration pack, I use the Ultimate Direction ultra pack for women because it has little loops to hold my trekking poles.

I am packing as many pairs of my New Balance trail shoes as I dare because I find that circulating them help keep injuries at bay as well as minimizing the chance of blisters.

I am anticipating some pain because it is hard to know how my body will react going from a break from running to a solid 120 miles of it at crazy elevation. I am not saying I recommend it, but I do recommend the Genuine Health pain relief. Hello dear friend.

Another thing I learned from my last stage expedition and any race that is 12 hours or more is that my digestive system can use some loving from the amount of food I am consuming. It is important to consume enough energy over the course of the race, so I am taking along some Mercola Probiotics that I have been testing out lately.

I was sent them a while back and they have become a staple part of my daily routine.

What do probiotics do for you?

Probiotics

I’ve been loving them and I want to share some with you as well! Just leave a comment letting me know what is your go-to item to pack for races! I will announce the winner on Friday, August 21.

Speaking of giveaways, the final winner in my canfitpro giveaway is Kat! Just send me an email at lacesandlattes(a)gmail.com and I will hook you up with your prize!

Kat

Have a great weekend everyone! Just a bit of an update that although I am planning on taking my laptop while travelling, the mountains do not have wifi, so I will have a punctuated posting schedule next week. Stay tuned in with Instagram and facebook for updates as I go and I will see you when I get back.

BYE!!!
