Goals for July 2017

Summer is by far my favourite time of the year. Watermelon, sunshine and long hours outside – I love everything about it.

I find that in the summer, I spend more time playing than goal chasing, but I do have a few things up my sleeve. Before I look to what I am setting out to do in July, this is what I said I would do for June.

See some old friends

It was amazing to see my good friends Jess and Michael in Montreal in June. They were married last year and moved to the city to go to school. I met them while I was there for work and we had dinner one evening and got caught up on life.

Brush up on my golf game

I did a really poor job of preparing for the golf tournament I was playing in (read: I didn’t do a thing about it since last year), but apparently, that is a good idea for my game as the guys I was golfing in remarked that I was even better than last year. I give up.

Head to Alberta to visit a new friend

Yes yes! It was incredible! I headed out to Alberta to race in the K100 and I will have a post about that next week. Stay tuned.

Eat more vegetables

I am trying to decide if watermelon falls in this category? I am still not eating as healthy as I probably could, but things have improved. I went grocery shopping and there is spinach in the crisper.

June was incredible and I have a feeling that July will be even better. Here is what I am aiming for.

Do a freaking IronmanCapture

I just wanted to type that. You GUYS! Lake Placid is this month and I am so excited. I cannot believe that it is here and despite being nervous because I don’t think you can truly know what you are getting yourself into the first time, I am feeling ready. This last weekend, I did almost the full distance across three days – I swam 4 KM on Friday, biked 180 on Saturday and ran 30 KM on Sunday. I just need to string all that together, add a bit more and I will be fine…right?

Kick off some marketing innovation in KW

Believe it or not, I am just as obsessed about public relations and marketing as I am with ultra-endurance athletics but I try to keep things focused on athletics on the blog and my social media. This month, I have some exciting new projects I am working on that are focused in this space and I am looking forward to tackling them.

And that is it. Like I said, in the summer months, I become a little less goal focused and spend a lot more time playing outside so I am keeping the goals at a minimum. I also need to leave room to be laser focused on the Ironman. There are a bunch of preparations I want to do leading up to it, both mentally and physically (and I will do a blog on this later) so I want to leave some room for that as well.

I am off to go play outside. Have a wonderful July, my friends!

Yes yes! I also need to somehow find a way to come to your neck of the woods as well – I have ALWAYS wanted to travel there.

Why thank you Stephanie. I am doubting I will feel amazing throughout that race but I certainly will be sharing details on the blog. 🙂
