The Most Expensive Gift…

Last weekend, I was talking about things I wanted for my birthday.

My friend, Angela, piped up and said “The most expensive birthday gifts are the ones that you buy for yourself.”

Indeed.

I have been lusting after a handmade leather satchel from The Cambridge Satchel Company ever since I have moved back from England in 2011.

When I saw that there was free shipping for the months of May and June, I knew my time had come. I carefully picked out the size, chose my style of embossing and hit the purchase button with a flourish.

Within days, it had arrived at my doorstep in all of it’s deep leather glory and I was rocking it at the MagNet conference all week.

Let's not tie a bow on it. This was me after a 14 hour day at the Conference. Let's just say I was lucky I had the bag to shine for me...

I even had Lyndsey call out “Bye, Jessica’s bag!” as she was leaving the office today. (Yes, I somehow managed to work with one of my best friends of all time.)

So, rather than keep this awesomeness to myself, I think you should buy one too. But not yellow. I have dibs.

Just kidding.

Sort of.

Regardless, this is my new bag and I am proud of it.

photo 3 I sold my old Matt & Nat handbag to a coworker and will be proudly showcasing the bright yellow against my hopelessly boring outfits in a valiant effort to perk up my style.

What is your latest splurge?

I want… [Fashion Friday]

friday-1Yes.

I don’t know about you lovely people, but I am doing a serious exhale now that the weekend is here. This entire week has been a mad rush of transitions and unwanted surprises. I feel a bit like I have been fighting to stay afloat and now that the weekend is here, I am embracing it with a passion! I have some sister time planned for a dress fitting, a little shopping trip with my father to buy something beyond awesome that I have been waiting a year to get, a bit of QT with the gentleman in my life and teaching a few spin classes.

In the sense the fact that it is Friday and it is time to let our hair down a little and do a celebration dance or two, I thought it would be only appropriate to kickstart the weekend with a bit of blatant consumerism and shameless oogling.

fashionfridayThese are a few pieces on my fashion bucket list. [Keep in mind, I am being realistic. I would love to toss a Burberry trench in here, but I need to wait a few decades before that would be an option.]

This DVF dress:

A satchel from the Cambridge Satchel Company. [my next purse, ya'll]

Anything from the REISS Spring lookbook:

My absolute favourite shop in England. I lusted over a silk, off-white blazer for months until everyone in the store knew me by name. I would come after the gym, because it was near by and try on clothes with my sports bra straps peeking out, but they somehow didn’t seem care.

And the entire management team cheered when I bought the blazer.

I love REISS.

Anyways. That is my off-task drivel for the day.
