April Playlist for Runners

April Interval Playlist

Good morning everyone!

Hope you have had a fabulous week and are headed into a relaxing weekend. I am a busy weekend full of long runs, a couple dinners with friends and I am joining the RunWaterloo team to compete in a pancake flipping contest at the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival. Only in Waterloo Region would that be a completely standard weekend.

With the past number of weeks forcing me indoors to train on the treadmill or spin bike, I’ve had lots of time to discover new music and I thought it was high time to share a few songs to push into your workout rotation.

1. GARETH EMERY – LONG WAY HOME

I used to go see Gareth Emery when I lived in England a number of years ago and I was so excited to hear he put out a new album and it has been on repeat ever since. This is a stunning song with a beautiful build – perfect way to warm up for a workout!

ORJAN NILSON – ATCHOO!

I always reach for exercise music that is driving and a little bit hypnotic. This song certainly fits the bill and Orjan Nilson is one of my favourite newly discovered DJ’s.

GARETH EMERY – U

This is my favourite song this week. You know when you are listening to a song for the first time and you just think “Here ‘s my new favourite song?” This was the case for me and I look forward to listening to this song until I hate it.

TALK DIRTY – JASON DERULO

I love this song for the incredible rhythm and deep bass. There is just something in this song that makes you want to push through another interval or throw some dance moves into a spin session. In short, it’s FUN!

DADA LIFE – BORN TO RAGE

BASTILLE – THE DRAW

This is just a gorgeous song and my favourite cool down track as of late.

I’ve been using these tracks for my interval training. I will leave you for the weekend with one of my favourite hour long interval workouts that can be done on a treadmill or a spin bike.

JESSICA’S INTERVAL WORKOUT

10 minute warm up

5 minutes of tempo work – Find a steady resistance and pace.

5 x 1 minute sprints with 30 second recovery

2 minute steady pace

5 minute hill climb, slowly increasing resistance on the bike or incline on the treadmill

3 x 2 minute repeats with a 20 second sprint to finish. 1 minute recovery.

10 minute cool down.

Happy Training! Now get out there and run. 🙂

What are some of your favourite workout tracks right now?

Always excited to see these posts…if I recall correctly, there were a couple mind-blowing ones last time so my expectations are high!
Current favourite in my list is “Sail” by AWOLNATION for weights. I like a song as heavy as the workout!

Sail is such a fabulous song. I used to play it at full volume whenever I landed a huge deal at my old job! HA.
      I hope this round doesn’t disappoint! 😀
