Some Peanut Butter Chocolate Goodness

It has been a bear of a week. I have done a lot of travelling for work and being stranded in a snow storm messed with regular posting this week, however, I am more or less back on track and ready for a busy weekend!

One thing that I try to do when life gets a little crazy is have some healthy, superfood snacks within reach because I WILL eat whatever is in front of me. I am in the process of moving to a new condo with my bestie, Ange, and last night I took a load of boxes to the condo and realized it was 9 PM and there was no way I was going to have a substantial dinner. Thankfully, I made sure one of the first things I had stocked was the supplement cabinet and I grabbed a Rumble and a to-go box of Love Grown cereal for dinner.

Today, I had a bit more time on my hands and made something that has been in my head for a very long time. This recipe is not just filled with the standard chocolate and peanut butter, in fact, there are no chocolate chips. Even I am baffled by this idea. I made sure to incorporate what I think are some of the most important super foods such as coconut oil and chia.

Not only that, but I used one of my favourite protein powders ever. Chocolate and peanut butter are two of my favourite flavours and Genuine Health combined them into one perfect combo. I will throw this in almond milk and drink after a hard workout.

I kind of died of excitement when I found it.

I also love love love dates and they are one of the key ingredients in this recipe. I train with dates for the awesome carb content, but I also occasionally stuff them with all natural peanut butter for a quick snack. I love to use the Natural Delights organic dates because they are always fresh and delicious.

This is a great recipe because it is full of healthy carbs, fats and protein which is great pre and post workout as well as for moving lots of cardboard boxes into your new apartment!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Balls

  • 2 scoops of Genuine Health chocolate peanut butter protein powder
  • 10 organic  Natural Delight organic dates
  • 1 TBSP chia seeds
  • 1 TBSP coconut oil
  • 1/3 cup almonds
  • 1/4 cup of all natural peanut butter
  • 1 TBSP of honey

Pit the dates and put all the ingredients in a blender.

Roll into balls and place in the freezer for an hour.

Enjoy!

That’s not the only good news I have for you today.

I recently heard about Goodness Me! and their plans to open some new locations in my area long before I had been into their store. Their reputation proceeds them as one of the best natural food markets in Canada, with over 6 locations and more on the way.

I think one of the most telling things about this organization is that the owner, Janet Jacks, is so passionate about health and caring for Canadians. She took the time to share her story about how her husband was was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and her relentless pursuit of knowledge on how to deal with the disease. In the process, she found a way of life that offered health and vitality that she wanted to share with others.

Her and her husband opened up their first store in Hamilton, ON and have been helping educate on the importance of eating well ever since and they offer cooking classes, health courses and recipes on top of groceries, supplements and all natural products.

I was on the recieving end of Janet’s knowledge when I decided I wanted some magnesium to supplement with for healthy muscular function. I was standing in the supplement aisle surrounded by rows of different companies touting that their magnesium was the best. She swooped in, asked me what I did, what I was wanting and within a minute, she handed me the perfect one and I was on my way.

That knowledge and passion is exactly the reason I am thrilled to announce that I have partnered with Goodness Me! as they launch their online store. With our snowy Canadian winters, I will be certainly using online shopping more than ever and this online store is intuitive and well stocked.

They provide labels to help you guide your decisions based on your food sensitivities.

Burritos are my favourite go-to snack.
    Hahaha KIDDING. Kind of.

I love making protein balls or bars as well! I also snack on raw fruits or veggies throughout the day. Crackers with hummus or handfuls of popcorn are never a bad idea either… 😉

It’s a good thing none of these balls were sitting in the condo when I was there tonight because I would have eaten them ALL! Seriously though, our supplement closet is now so stacked that I think we could make enough balls for the whole building! 🙂
