September Coffee Date
It was JUST summer but I am finally acknowledging that as September is closing out that fall is here and it is here to stay. I have some really exciting things planned for fall so I am not mad about it, I just am annoyed with the cold.
So let’s get a hot cup of coffee and talk about things that have nothing to do with running, training or exercise, shall we?
Currently Watching
I think the last time I watched anything was August to be completely honest, but my favourite show to fold laundry to these days is Young and Hungry. Keeping it deep.
Best Book I Read this Month
Natural Born Heroes by Christopher McDougall. I read this on the way to my adventure race and it is all about moving like you were naturally meant to move. I then spent 4 days climbing, swimming, skipping and jumping over rugged landscapes which was cool to immediately put into practice the things I learned. Highly recommend the book.
Best thing on the internet
Foxes are my favourite animal andI had about 3 people send me this fact. I just need a spare $9,000 to buy utter happiness.
What I am (wishing) I was wearing
Speaking of foxes, one of my favourite outdoor companies is Fjallraven which is Swedish for Arctic Fox. It is an awesome company that makes durable and stylin’ clothes for adventure lovers. It’s been a number of years since I bought my last winter coat and I have put mine through the paces.
I am loving this Polar Guide Parka and am thinking it may have to happen.
My winter coat requirements are that it needs to be black, ridiculously warm and waterproof and able to withstand the abuse I put it through. Fjallraven is not giving me a coat to say this – I just get really excited when I find a coat that meets my criteria. Bonus points for foxes.
Currently baffled by
The new name I was given by Starbucks. And no, I did not take someone else’s drink. When the barista handed me my drink, she just told me it was mine and it was a long story.
Best new beauty product
My hair is the worst. As in, so bad that every hair stylist agrees with me. The last time I had it done, my hair dresser lamented that she JUST cut it, but it looked like it had already died. So when I find anything that makes my hair shiny or look remotely nice, I get STOKED. Like this stuff.
Best outfit of September
Second morning of the Raid International Gaspesie and I was drinking coffee in our hotel room before we headed to the race start. Brad asked for my phone. And THIS is why I will never be a fashion blogger.
Favourite quote
So last coffee date, I said I was reading Big Magic. I read this excerpt and took a photo. Just a reminder that risks are important.
Favourite Song this month
This is a hard one this month. There are SO MANY I am loving but the one I have most recently cranked the volume on and sang along to at the top of my lungs is this one.
Best story of the month
So, my sister has had anorexia for over a decade and my mother is an absolute superhero for being her caregiver, cheerleader, supporter and source of hope. There is no doubt in my mind that my mother is an absolute angel, but a recent story that she told me left no doubt in my mind. One of the skills you develop from being a close family member of someone with an eating disorder is that you can sniff them out a mile away. My mom was grocery shopping and as she was checking out, she saw a woman she knew instantly struggled with an eating disorder. Long story, but it ended up with my mother offering to drive her and her groceries home and as my mom was driving her out of the parking lot, she just simply asked, “So how long have you had your eating disorder?”
The woman broke down and shared her story. When my mom reached her apartment, she helped unload her things, gave her a big long hug and left. That is one of the best dang things about Miriam Kuepfer. She will mother anyone and everyone. She will put on a hot cup of coffee, pull a loaf of fresh bread from the oven and smother you with love. Hands down one of the best humans I know.

Never not spreading hope everywhere she goes.
How about you? What’s new in your life?
Your mom is the BEST!!!!
I may be biased, but I tend to agree. 🙂
My gosh, your mother really is an angel. What a great story to start my day 🙂
Love your coffee date posts! And your fashion is on point my dear, haha (although I’m one to talk so – two peas in a pod?) 🙂
Yes – I have been working hard on my fashion skills… LOL
Ha ha! I can relate to never being a fashion blogger, it’s just not practical! 🙂
Well, when you are in fitness clothes all the time… 😛 v
Aww what a great story about your Mom, Mom’s are the best! I totally watch Young & Hungry when I need some mindless TV. Did you like Big Magic?
