June Coffee Date

Hey friends.

June has disappeared. But it has been an incredible one. I feel like there is so much to get caught up on!

Let’s sit down and have a virtual coffee, shall we? This is a blog feature where I talk about everything not related to running and give a little glimpse on what else is going on in my life at the moment.

What I am Reading These Days

Rusch to Glory. Rebecca Rusch, The Queen of Pain, is my new super hero. I absolutely adore this woman and everything she stands for. I tore through this book and found myself nodding at every page. She put into words a lot of what I feel about being a female in sports, adventure racing and life in general.

Currently Watching

A lot of you have been asking me to do a vlog and unfortunately, I just don’t have the time. FORTUNATELY, The Movement Centre has put together an incredibly helpful series on runners from the toes to the head with tips on how to ensure that the kinetic chain is aligned and provide awesome exercises to help runners perform their best.

Check back each weekend for a new video – you can watch the first one below:

Current Favourite Song

Currently Eating

Ice cream. Just so much ice cream. One of the best parts of summer is that it is finally hot enough to have ideal consumption levels.

I do try to balance it out with an occasional salad, but honestly, between training and being short on time, I am eating #allthethings.

Currently Drinking

Sparkling water. I am all about my soda stream these days and the new Green Apple Cucumber flavour is an amazing summer drink!

Currently Grateful For

Friends who know bike mechanics. The more I ride, the more beat up my bike gets and it is amazing to be able to have them fix my shifters and spend a couple hours providing free labour in exchange for protein drinks or whatever I have floating around in my pantry. We have a truly awesome cycling community and I am excited to become more involved with it. I am still a newbie mountain biker but it is fun to watch my skill level grow.

Favourite summer activity

fire

Campfires. My parents recently put in a gorgeous patio with a smokeless fire pit and I love catching up with them over a cup of coffee whenever I can make it home.

How about you? What new activities, songs, foods, things are biggest for you right now?

Love campfires and ice cream- they just scream summer! Lately I’ve been loving all the watermelon and corn on the cob too. Oh and acai bowls- they make the perfect breakfast!
