Looking on the Bright Side

I just returned from Paris this past weekend and although it was amazing, it was full of misadventures.
I always try to look on the bright side, however, so here is my attempt!
Bright Side 1: Even though my VISA card was stolen and the thief helped himself to plane tickets to the Czech Republic and nights at a 5 star hotel, it was amazing to see my old friends again and make some new ones!
Bright Side 2: Even though the keys to my apartment went missing, I lived in foodie heaven. Nights out at luxurious cafes and French resturants, friends cooking me traditional French meals filled with the finest cheese and baguettes, breakfasting on croissants and macaroons and eating crepes at the Eiffel Tower.

Emma, overwhelmed with the amazingness of French cuisine

Bright Side 3: Even though my hostel room key was stolen right out of my pocket while I was sleeping, I did some AMAZING shopping in one of the worlds fashion capitals and bougth a purse I had been dreaming about for over a year!

!!!

Bright Side 4: Even though I almost missed my flight home because of a bomb threat, I got to spend all weekend with one of my best friends from Canada who spontaneously booked a ticket to Paris for the first time ever. I got to experiance the culture with her and introduce her to someone special.
I think I will take some of the credit for this one!!
Bright Side 5: No matter where I go in the world or what happens while I am there, I know I can always log onto Skype for someone to not just listen to my adventures, but care about what I am doing and see this:

The boys

Looking forward to April when I get to see him in person! We are going to the Netherlands to a concert and then to Israel. Honestly, cannot wait.

This weekend: London, England! (Here’s hoping it is a little less adventurous than Paris, but I highly doubt it. There is no such thing as normal for me..)

What is the worst travel experiance you have ever had?
I would have to say they have all been in Paris for me. In grade 10, we had a 30 hour layover in the airport on our way to Spain because the French were on strike. (typical) And then the unbelievable amount of events that played out this time…

Oh my goodness girl! Holy moly about your card, keys and everything wow. I’m glad to know you are doing better though and this blog is so inspiring. I’m in a rather low point right now with personal and family problems but there is always a bright side to everything and you have really reminded me of that. 🙂

Well, your blog is a bright spot to me for sure! There is always a bright spot, even if you think your world is falling apart. Thinking of you!

OMG sorry to hear about your misfortunes, but all the ‘bright sides’ sound fantastic!!! I am jealous of your shopping excursions in particular, and that was so sweet that you got some surprise visitors!!

[…] It makes for some great stories, but it can seem very awful at the time. Like being stared down by a creepy classmate in a philosophy class and then later asked to join his Dungeons and Dragons team. What? Like having my VISA card stolen. Like the countless other things that happen to me on a daily basis that prove that I was not designed to live life quietly. Not having any clue what normal is can lead me to resent this, but there is always a bright side. […]
