January Coffee Date

Guys. Last week hit like a load of bricks. Let’s have coffee and catch up.

Firstly.

GrandmaMy grandma died last Thursday on the same day that I received some pretty big news at work that will make my spring a wee more stressful. I handle stress relatively well, but I was still over the moon grateful that Mark was in town that evening to be with me. He went on a Costco adventure with me and we ate ice cream and watched a movie with the world’s biggest bag of kettle corn. I felt a thousand times better.

This week will continue to be crazy because as we speak, I am on drugs. Legitimately. I am getting my wisdom teeth out this morning and I will spend the rest of the week juggling my career and trying to heal my face fast enough to attend my grandma’s funeral. So it is that kind of week for me…

In other news:

Currently eating

Nothing. I can’t with this silly surgery.

Currently drinking

Juices. Soups. Smoothies. I am trying hard to keep my calories up because I want to jump back into training as soon as I am healed and I really don’t want to be operating at a deficit.

Currently Reading

4 Hour Body by Tim Ferris.

I am wanting to read his new book, Tools of Titans but I am wanting to get through this first. It is absolutely huge but it is nice to read a bit before bed every night.

Currently listening to

A podcast that I did with Eric Collard. You can check it out here.

Currently watching

To be honest, probably Gossip Girl. I love lighter shows when I am sick or recovering.

Currently interested in

Learning how to make sourdough bread. I got the starter from a friend and I am going to try to make a few loaves. I am not promising anything…

Best new thing this month

Someone was giving away free plants at work and I snagged this one. Fingers crossed I can keep it alive. I do not have the greatest track record.

Latest challenge

I signed up to do the CN tower climb in the spring. I love that it goes to support the WWF and I want to get some climbing under my belt in preparation for the hills in Lake Placid.

So sorry for your loss Jess. I hope your wisdom tooth recovery goes well – mine was relatively pain/swelling/bruising free and I hope the same happens for you. Excited to see how your sourdough experiment goes – it’s definitely my favorite bread.
