March Goal Check In and 5 More!
Hello everyone,
I hope you are having a wonderful week. I am writing this from the cafe at my Toyota dealer where my little Prius is getting her first oil change!
I thought it was time to take a look at how I did this past month and look forward to the next month of April.
Make reading a book a month a regular thing.
I was working through Gilead by Marilyn Robinson. Honestly, the best book I have read in a long time and it is not just because I preceded with with Midnight’s Children..
I gave myself a B because I finished it in April. We WILL be talking more about it later. Absolutely a fabulous book.
Survive a month long detox.
I gave myself a C because I ended up casting it aside. The first 10 days, which were the most vital of all, I did impeccably. No sugar (not even in fruit), no wheat, no dairy, no soy, no almost everything. Nailed it.
But then when we started reaching past the 10th day, I realized a detox of this length was not achievable with my pace of life. There is no way that I could commit the amount of time and planning ahead to make sure I got everything in and the bad things out. Needless to say, I have cut my sugar and peanut butter intake over 50% so that is something.
But I will not be detoxing anytime in the mere future.
Devote some extra time to community service.
I feel as if I haven’t committed that much time to the Rainbarrel fundraiser. The person who was doing it with me dropped out so I am left to do it alone. So obviously the best response to overwhelming situations is to just not focus on it.
I joke.
If you want a rainbarrel, check out the website! Feel free to join our facebook page as well!
The distribution date is the day after I have surgery so I feel as if there will be a good story hiding in there somewhere.
Nothing like volunteering with good intentions and showing up solo with a bruised face. Welcome to my life.
Get 7-8 hours of sleep a night.
Organize my gym bag.
The only thing on my list that wasn’t a complete and epic fail in March.
I am the proud owner of a brand spankin’ (smaller) gym bag. The hope is that I will not fill it to the brim with nonsensical items. My mother gifted me a cute Fossil carrying case for my watches, hair elastics, etc. I have a make up bag. I organized all of my class notes into a filing folder. I am winning at gym bag organization.
On to April…
1. Take some continuing education in Fitness Instruction classes.
I am hoping to get my Aquatics certification as well as more training in Body Sculpt, Step, Bootcamps, and Kickboxing. I am really tired of checking out YouTube an hour before I am called in as an emergency sub.
2. Read another book in April.
I am still undecided on which one. I will let you know when I chose. If you have any suggestions, throw them my way.
That being said, on my summer brain candy list is this one:
3. Learn how to use Photoshop to it’s full potential.
My new employer is giving me the program so I want to learn how to use it to make the blog bigger, better and flashier than ever!
4. Get my taxes done.
Let’s not elaborate on how late I am this year…
5. Begin a regular massage and athletic therapy program for my race season.
Now that I have found my girl, it is time to do work.
How about you? What are your goals for April?

Your writing can make me smile during a blizzard in April – what an extraordinary gift you have! (And outright laughter at the “sleeping” gif)
My book recommendation is a good thriller set in post-Second-World-War-Soviet-Russia called “Child 44.” In my opinion it was an absolute page turner and an easy read…like The Millennium Series with less Apple products and sandwiches.
The only goal I have in April (besides survival) is to meet up with you for a coffee or burger (don’t worry, I’ll make sure you don’t put peanut butter on it…ugh) So consider yourself warned!

Are you busy Saturday evening? And there will be peanut butter!!!
Child44 it is! Thanks for recommending!

Flapsjacks! I do have an event Saturday evening I’ve committed to being at and unfortunately there’s one too many people who would notice my absence. Rain check??

Of course.:) let me know when and I will be there.
