Holiday Giveaway #4: SKECHERS GoMeb Speed 3
Welcome to the week of Christmas! I am still in the giving spirit and I am excited to announce the winner of my Genuine Health contest is Jordan!
Send me an email, Jordan and I will hook you up with some of my favourite protein powders!
Last week, I went home for dinner and my sister and I made a discovery about my mother.
If there is anything that is new, limited or special edition or in short supply, she WILL buy it. Her pantry is full of snow flake Ritz crackers, strangely flavoured holiday hot chocolate and we were among the first to snag the green ketchup back in the day.
I really can’t say much because I am the exact same when it comes to running gear. Special edition product for races is totally my thing, so when Skechers offered to let me try out their limited edition shoe from the New York City Marathon 2014, I was all over it. It’s a genetic thing.
The style is GoMeb Speed 3 which is built on the same generation as the traditional GoMeb Speed. This shoe was designed for Meb Keflezighi which is the shoe he wore when he won the Boston Marathon. (This will be good luck for me as I am training to race it hard this year!)
It is a pretty shoe that looks speedy! It is loaded with subtle technology to make your run as efficient as possible.
- M-Strike Technology which promotes a healthy midfoot strike delivers maximum energy with every step.
- Resalyte™ Midsole – Proprietary lightweight injection-molded compound with memory retention helps absorb impact.
- Dupont Delrin™ material Stability Plate in midfoot for a supportive and secure run with even less weight.
- Light weight design – 6.1 oz. in a women’s size 7
- Independent circular GOimpulse sensors for a more responsive running experience.
- Improved GOimpulse sole layout
The shoes come with two pairs of laces so you can mix and match depending on how you want the shoe to look.
I have been running in these shoes for the past couple weeks and I find they are a roomy fit for most foot widths.
I didn’t feel like there was a period where I needed to break them in – they were comfortable and easy from the moment I put them on my feet and I didn’t have any rubbing or blisters. They are built for speed so there is not a lot of cushioning, but because of the sturdy sole, there is a surprising amount of stability for such a light shoe.
I also love all the special little craftmanship details on this shoe, from the NYC signature to the extra laces.
This is one of my favourite Skechers training shoes to date and I would love to share a pair for you to try out as well!
Skechers is offering a pair of these shoes to a Laces and Lattes reader. It is open to both men and women with men’s version in orange.
To enter, let me know which race in 2015 you are looking forward to training for and follow Skechers Canada on Facebook and Twitter.
As always, there is additional entries granted to those who like Laces and Lattes on Facebook and sign up for my newsletter, being released in 2015!
Deadline to enter is Dec 27 at 12 PM EST. The winner will be announced next Monday, Dec 29 along with the final giveaway in December!
Good luck!

The race I’m training for is the Erie Canal Marathon Tour, but I’m increasing the difficulty a notch. Since I’m doing it as an awareness campaign for mental health, I’ll be running the Erie Canal race and then along the Welland Canal in Canada for a total of 700 km. Starts August 28th.

My goal is to complete any 5K in 2015! I know, go big or go home 😉 Running was put on hold due to my leg issues but I think it was also weight related so while I’m still working on that (30 down, 30 to go), so I think 2015 is the year to check this off my list

There are 2 races this year I am very excited about. But mostly the Toronto Yonge St 10k to take the OA team bragging rights again and set a new PB. To make the win sweeter I’ve come across postings where Toronto teams are encouraged to come out with their clubs and keep the win in Toronto. The second one is the Ottawa 10k in May. I have some good friends that moved their after high school and its always good to see them. This is the new Canadian 10k championships so I will be running with the best and hopefully set another PB. Both these races are a good focus and will keep my training in line. Can’t wait! Happy holidays!

I’m looking forward to going back to my 50 mile trail race site and running the marathon distance this time. It’s such a great venue, and the race director is such a great guy with so many supporting caring volunteers is hard not to go back and kick up the dirt on this trail. The trail is wicked hard but fun. This will complete all distances on this course so I’m pretty stoked to beat my marathon time here.
Jenni says
The race is the North Country trail race. The home of the largest medal. Seriously it looks like a plate!

I am currently training for the Around the Bay in Hamilton. It’s the go between from my longest race of a half marathon to the next step of a full marathon. After the 30k bay I will be signing up for my very first marathon in the fall of 2015. Looks like I have big goals set and those shoes would fit well into my plan. ..lol.
