Happy Halloween from Laces and Lattes!
HIII!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! As I mentioned in my last post, I headed to the La Cloche Silhouette Trail with some friends and although it didn’t go QUITE as we planned, we ended up completing a gorgeous 60 KM hike and spent lots of time celebrating our achievement. (While also going to bed at 8 PM because I am basically 80 years old…but let’s not dwell on that).

I thought it was only appropriate to go as the Starbucks lady because #lacesandLATTES
You can read my account over at Canadian Running Magazine.
A few additional photos from the hike that are not in the feature:

I have been having some hamstring issues lately. My coach gave me some glute activation exercises and I diligently did them to stay healthy on the trail.

Taking in the scenery on the trail

We call this one “Finally Done.”

Let’s just say, this fire lasted a while.

Setting up for a group photo is hard with shark fins.

One of the takes. The cold made us only mildly committed to being in full costume.
To get ready for the event, I wanted to make sure my glycogen stores were topped up and when my favourite cereal flavour in the WHOLE WORLD came in the mail, I ate over half the box because that is an appropriate and adult thing to do. Chocolate and Vanilla Love Grown Cereal – my favourite thing since their release last year. (Nothing in this post is sponsored, I just have an unnatural love for this cereal.)

It was a fantastic weekend with some great runners. On the way back, they asked me what I would have done differently. Three things: I would like to do it in the late spring when there is more natural daylight. I would bring a back up light. I would have worn my trail shoes half a size largerĀ – let’s just say, I will be painting my toenails black again…
I hope you all have a wonderful Halloween Monday!
Also, just a reminder that today is the LAST day to enter the Chopped Leaf Beet Bowl contest. Details here.
Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what are you going as?
What is your favourite cereal?
Your halloween costume is hilarious hahaha love it!

Ha – thanks Nicole! I’d love to say I spent a long time on it but it happened to be fairly last minute…:)
I’ve hiked through La Cloche Silhouette twice with my husband, first in 5 days, then in 3…of course a through run is on his radar, but that’s a tough trail!!! Last year when we were there, we were woken by runners who were in search of water at approx. 2 in the morning. Our site had a really steep rock ledge to the lake, and they just went for it – obviously delirious, chatting away and totally amped. They would’ve had at least 20km to go…man. I can’t imagine it (yet ;)).
That same trip we were caught in torrential downpours and it was nothing short of terrifying. Being up on the mountain top in the lightening and rain was so scary…but makes for a good story now.
Read your Canadian Running article – glad you made a safe choice and still had a great time!!
OMG – that sounds absolutely insane. I certainly am glad we made the smart decision as well, but a through hike would be so much fun!
