Finding the Shoe That Fits

Let’s talk shoes.

And for once, it is NOT running shoes.

It was a question I have been struggling with for…well, ever. What shoes do you wear when you are not running?

As someone with fallen arches with orders to wear orthotics, I know that it isn’t my Louboutins. But I struggle almost daily when I take off my running shoes, change into office attire and stare at my shoe rack for inspiration. Cheap flats that are worn through. Heels that will have my feet screaming by noon. And then the comfortable, supportive shoes that will ensure I remain injury-free and super fast for my upcoming races. The problem is, Birkenstocks look pretty awful with a little black dress.

Now, I am not even going to pretend to have the answers, especially when a woman recently looked me squarely in the eyes and informed me that the reason she had foot injuries as an adult was because she wore unsupportive, cheap shoes when she was my age. I literally went home and threw out all my worn, Ardene flats and swore off cheap shoes forever. Until the next shoe sale…

But seriously. The solutions I have found so far have been TOMS and Sperry’s for more casual occasions, but I am on the hunt for a supportive, dressy and NICE LOOKING shoe that will look fabulous with a dress. This is the first post in a while that I am not heralding an opinion but asking for your help!

To digress in a huge way, how excited are you to be heading into the long weekend?! I am working Friday and Saturday and spending time with friends. On Sunday, I am heading up to Collingwood to spend a week running the trails, mountain biking, wind surfing, zip lining, rock climbing and a few more other things that end in ‘ing. I will be sharing my adventures on instagram, facebook and twitter!

What shoes do you wear when you are not running to ensure that you remain injury free?

If you don’t run, what is your go-to walking shoe?

What are you planning for the long weekend?
