Holiday Giveaway 2: Love Grown Foods

There is a laundry list of reasons why I am not a food blogger and none of them have anything to do with the fact that I don’t LOVE food.

It more has to do with the fact that my favourite dessert is sprouted toast with coconut oil and nutella or quinoa mixed with nutella. If it doesn’t have less than 10 ingredients, I am not interested.

Or the fact that I eat the occasional meal over the sink and tuck immediately into my food and would rather die that take a photo of it.

And then there is the reality that I eat mainly the same smoothies, salads, eggs and grains every day. I am not a huge content producer when it comes to food.

And I should probably add that my main camera is my iPhone.

But sometimes I get something so right, that even I am baffled.

That happened this past week. I spent the evening making a recipe for the annual office treat day.  I may have dropped a few things and tried to clean the stove top when it was still scorching hot, but man, I made an amazing recipe.

Dark Chocolate Power O Squares

Ingredients:
1/3 cup honey
1/2 cup of crunchy peanut butter
1/4 cup flax seed meal
3 cups of Power O’s (Honey flavour)
1/4 cup dark chocolate (or as much as you desire…no judgement!)
1/4 tsp coconut oil
sea salt

DIRECTIONS:
BARS:
Grease an 8×8 pan with coconut oil to prevent sticking. Heat a saucepan over low heat and add peanut butter and honey. Stir until warm and smooth. Stir in flaxseed meal and transfer to a larger bowl. Add Power O’s and mix. Transfer to pan and press firmly with a rubber spatula to ensure that bars are even.
CHOCOLATE DRIZZLE:
Heat coconut oil and chocolate in a saucepan until warm and smooth. Pour over prepared bars and sprinkle with sea salt.
Place the bars in the fridge for 2 hours or until they harden. Cut into squares and serve!

Finally, I am putting my Christmas hat back on and doing another week of giveaways, but FIRST, the winner of the Sports Suds contest is Cari!

Screen Shot 2014-12-07 at 5.03.46 PMSend me an email and I will hook you up with your product!

This week, I want to treat you to my favourite LOVE GROWN items. Love Grown foods is a company that I use every day. My morning routine is waking at 5 AM, throwing oats in my gym bag and heading for an intense workout. At 8 AM, I am my desk enjoying steaming hot oats. Every. Single. Morning. I love the flavours and I love what the company stands for.

Love Grown Foods is essentially a love story. Alex was an entrprenuer, Maddy was a nutritionist, a masseuse and Pilates lover and together, they launched a company focused on helping everyone eat better that turned into a national brand.

I am proud to be a part of the Love Grown team and man, am I in good company with some of my best friends like The Athletarian and Eat Spin Run Repeat.

My favourite products are:

Power O’s are made with navy beans, garbanzo beans, and lentils, so for a cereal lover like me, this is incredible news. They come in original, honey, chocolate and strawberry, and the honey is my favourite because NOTHING goes better with peanut butter.

Hot Oats cups make my life so easy. These are the sweet little things I eat every morning and they are perfect to pack with me for destination races. I love them for a  pre-race meal.  Sweetened with hint of brown sugar and freeze-dried strawberries and raspberries, the single serve cup is full of flavor, fiber, and protein  and comes in Strawberry Raspberry, Blueberry Banana Walnut, Apple Cinnamon and Peach Vanilla Almond. I can’t tell you which one is my favourite because they are all equally incredible.

Oat Clusters – Holy yum. This is the best granola in the world. I love eating with almond milk and peanut butter, on top of greek yogurt or straight out of the bag. My favourite flavour is cocoa goodness, but they also come in sweet cranberry pecan, raisin almond crunch, plain and apple walnut delight.

Super Oats – For the days I run out of Hot Oat cups, I tuck into the bag of Super Oats that I keep at my desk. Made with grains oats, chia seeds, quinoa flakes, amaranth flakes, almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds and flaxseed, it is unsweetened so I skip the sugar and sprinkle nuts or seeds in for extra crunch. It comes in nuts and seeds or simply pure.

Now for the good part. I am giving away FOUR Love Grown products of your choice. To enter, please leave a comment telling me which four items you would like to try and be sure to follow Love Grown Foods on Instagram.

For additional entries (one per action), you can like Laces and Lattes on Facebook or Instagram and sign up for my newsletter, being released in 2015!

Deadline to enter is Dec 14 at 12 PM EST. I will be announcing the winner next Monday.

Good luck!
