New Balance Zante Launch Party and Dr William Davis Tour Giveaway!

Oh hey.

It is so hard to believe that we are nearing the end of March. To be completely honest with you, I am looking forward to seeing the end of it. March has not been gentle to me and I am grateful to put winter, stress and some life frustrations behind me and look towards a fantastic April full of the Boston marathon, a nice taper and celebrating spring and fathers. The normal.

Last evening, I headed to Running Works in Guelph to celebrate the launch of the New Balance Zante shoe which will be the beauty that I am racing Boston in. I tried it out on a short run with some of the other New Balance athletes and will be incorporating it into my regular training program to break it in for Boston.

Shoes? Check. Boston Jacket? Check. Less than one month to go? CHECK

It was a great event and it was awesome to learn more about the shoe. I will be doing a review after I train in it a bit more, but this is what New Balance is saying about it.

Screen Shot 2015-03-24 at 10.18.07 PMIt was awarded Competitor Magazine’s road shoe of the year as it feels like a second skin and offers extra heel to toe transition. I will need all the free speed I can get at Boston so I am excited to use this shoe!

We went out on a short run and reconvened at the shop for prizes, food and a party!

Andrew Catton is the owner of the store and is so passionate in his support to the local running community. The huge turnout to the event was a testament to that.

It was so great to connect with all the incredible athletes at this event, including Eric Gillis and Alex Genest.

I am so fortunate to be able to pick the brains of these incredible athletes and I love hearing what they do for training, race plans and nutrition. I know Alex through my day job as he is connected to a company that we deal with so whenever I see that he is at the offices, I spend every moment I can chatting about injury prevention, periodization and nutrition. I’m currently reading a book he recommended on injury prevention and will do a review soon. He first got to know me as the “two stress fracture girl”, but thankfully, that is changing as I am healthy and strong in training this year.

Speaking of changes, my changing schedule is your gain because I have a meeting that came up that I cannot get out of this Friday night, so I am giving away two tickets to see Dr. William Davis at Goodness Me!

Leave a comment letting me know you are interested and I will announce the winner tomorrow.

Remember, you can get $10 off tickets with the code WBLL. Just type it in at the check out and it will be taken off your price.

What shoe are you running in right now?

I first heard about Dr. Davis when I went to Goodness Me! in Guelph and listed to Janet Jacks speak about nutrition. I have wanted to read his book for some time – getting a chance to listen to him would be amazing!

Asics Nimbus all the way for years and years. I used to race in Kinvaras but that was a long time ago. I’m not sure what I’d race in now!

    Hi Jessica

I read the book wheat belly about a year ago and purchase the cook book as well. I found it very difficult to stick to a wheat free diet.

I would love to opportunity to hear Dr. William Davis speak, I think it would really help spark my desire to eat healthy!

    Thanks so much,

Okay I must say that I absolutely love the look of that shoe. If I wasn’t so devoted to Mizuno, I would totally cave in and try it!! 😉 Excited to hear what you think of it! And that Boston jacket — I forgot to take a photo with it on!!! DANG IT!

I am a Brooks girl. I used to wear Nike for years, and then switched to Brooks as I wasn’t happy with my Nikes anymore. Brooks have been amazing for me, but I just might have to try these New Balances 😉

This is so cool, what a fun running event!! I run in vibram five fingers, which I think I’ve mentioned before, and am now scared to run in anything else. HAH.

What an awesome opportunity to meet so many amazing elite runners AND celebrate with New Balance! I love my Zantes and had no idea they won that award from Competitor… makes me love them even more now! You’ll have to keep me posted on how the Wheat Belly talk goes. I’m so sad to miss it!
