March 2017 Goals and a Community Challenge

I am waiting at the airport to fly home and reflecting on the race that just happened. There are so many breakthroughs that happened in my second 72 hour race; I feel like I am starting to finally be competitive in them rather than just holding on and surviving the experience. I will be sharing a full report next week, but I am going to try to salvage my blogging schedule with my goals for March.

Firstly, let’s look at how I did for February.

Increase my stomach acid

I am not sure whether I succeeded at this one or not. I wasn’t as consistent with my apple cider vinegar as I should have been but I didn’t have single workout with GI issues in February so I am taking that as a good sign.

Go on a road trip and visit some friends

And it was wonderful

And it was wonderful

Run a race

run

I ran the Refrigeeighter 8 KM just for fun and it was a great tune up for the season and a gentle reminder to my legs that they need to go fast sometimes too. It was a SNOWY day but a lot of fun to get outside on a local course.

COMMUNITY CHALLENGE – RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS

This was a fun one. I shared a few of my exercises on my Instagram stories but I found that I would ruin surprises for people that I was doing things for if they checked out my story first. I mailed a bunch of stuff to friends, delivered Starbucks to coworkers, gave little gifts and more. It was a great way to get in the habit of looking for ways to do nice things for people.

Ok. February was awesome. Now, looking to March.

I would have written something about my 72-hour race as a goal but this is late enough that I am skipping right over that.

Hustle at work.

March is going to be a month to buckle up and hold on tight! I am training a new person and getting ready for the biggest event of the quarter so it will be a bit of blur. I love the challenge and I love my job but it will be a big focus for the month of March.

Do my taxes

Every year I tell myself I will be more organised. That it will be easier. And it never is. Being a blogger on top of having a career makes tax time a little more complicated than a standard filing and I dread it. The best way out is through and I am looking forward to having it all behind me at the end of the month.

Practice some self-care

I had a reader make fun of me for putting “get a haircut” on one of my past monthly goals post but sometimes of the year are really that busy and this month is no exception. I have an outstanding trip to the hair salon, doctor, osteopath and massage therapist this month and now that my big spring race is behind me and I am a bit better staffed on my team at work, I am going to focus on getting them done.

COMMUNITY CHALLENGE – Smile at Strangers

2017 (1)

Guys. When a month looks like the one that lies ahead for me, I get all type-A and focused on my tasks and sometimes, I fail to notice the people around me. This is a terrible characteristic to have; in my opinion, everyone deserves to be acknowledged and recognised, no matter how busy I am. I may be alone in this, but if you struggle with the same thing, take a moment to smile at people around you. Don’t be creepy, be civil. 🙂

Happy March!

Ha ha! I am always smiling at strangers and they either love it or look at me like I have two heads! 🙂

Ahh girl I feel your tax pain. I wish I could say I was further ahead of the game than I was earlier this week when I posted my goals for March, but I’d be lying. We will both get ‘er done… and then indulge in some sort of self care celebration to congratulate ourselves for adulting like bosses. 🙂 Have fun with all of those appointments this month – especially that massage!

I wish we lived together again so we could complain to each other face to face. LOL

I smile at strangers like it’s my religion. Sometimes people look at me like I have two heads but plenty smile right back!

And self care in whatever way you choose is excellent!
