Goals for February and a Challenge for YOU

Mercifully, for the kind of month I just had, I didn’t set any mini goals for January so I just kind of did my thing. I DID set some bigger goals for the whole year, but February is the first month where I am setting out some incremental goals to reach those big ones!

Let’s get to it.

Increase my stomach acid

Weird one to start with but why not. If you watch my instagram stories, the other night, I was going on about my trip to my sports nutritionist and through some conversations about a few times times where my gut felt off on some of my longer runs this winter, she was wondering if I was maybe a bit too alkaline. She gave me 5 pills to test that and I took them with zero response.

CaptureSo this month, I will be taking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with my meals in hopes of increasing that and having a tip top metabolism.

Go on a road trip and visit some friends

Being an adult sucks sometimes. You get so caught up in the minutia of life and it becomes a lot easier to just stay home on the weekends and get caught up on stuff instead of being with people that require a bit of an effort to get to. Obviously, I understand that people pass in and out of life and I completely accept that – but there are a few people that I refuse to let that happen with. My bad ass girlfriends in Michigan are some of these people. We have planned a weekend of mountain biking, snowshoeing, xc skiing and trail running in Yankee Springs and I can’t WAIT.

Run a race

My local running series, Run Waterloo is holding their Refridgeeighter race on Feb 12 and I am using it as my weekly tempo workout. Last year, I was focused on getting some speedy PRs on the road and this year, I am focused on base building for the Ironman so I am not too fussed about anything but a beautifully consistent race with a negative split if possible. One of the biggest goals I have for any race this year is a word on my vision board: PACE YOURSELF.

Last year's Refridgeeighter

So I am going to see if I can pare down that competitive fire and just have a good workout at an awesome race with some fantastic people.

THIS MONTH’S COMMUNITY CHALLENGE: Do one random act of kindness a day for the month of February

2017

THIS is where my new feature of my goal setting comes in. A way for you to get involved as well. Each month, I am going to end with a relevant challenge that I will be doing that I would love for you to join in with as well. February 17 is Random Act of Kindness day and I thought this would be a perfect month for this challenge. I will be sharing my daily challenge in my instagram story and if you share yours as well, just tag me in your post or story and I may do a post sharing everything you are doing as well!

Let’s get out there and do some KINDNESS!

These are all such great goals Jess! I did a stomach acid test a little while ago and found the same result as you, so it was ACV before meals errryday for me too. Your photos from your road trip + friend visits look like so much fun and remind me of summer which I’m DYING for – partly because it means sunshine and warm weather, and partly because it means YOU are coming over here!

I am glad I am not the only one that struggles with this. And yes, so so excited for SUMMER!

Love this! For the first time I wrote a list of goals down on February 1st with feelings and actions I would take to support those goals and I can already feel the success. Have fun with your friends adventuring. It’s so important to enjoy your time with the people that matter most.

I’ve heard apple cider vinegar does wonders, but I didn’t know it came in a pill! now I want to find that because I can’t stand the taste of the stuff!

I’ve heard a lot of positive things about people who have started taking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar everyday. I’ve been thinking of giving it a try myself to help with some of my own digestive issues!
