MOMENTUM MONDAY

Momentum Monday: LAST LONG RUN

You GUYS! It is only 7 days until I will be lining up to run my first race of the season and my first Boston marathon of life.

I am so so so soooooo ready.

Yesterday, I had my last “long” run before Boston and it went so unbelievably well. My legs are fresh and rested and the biggest challenge was holding back so I wouldn’t ruin race day! This is my very first marathon that I am heading into completely uninjured so this is already a record breaking event for me.

This was my last weekend before Boston and I made the most of the extra time in my schedule from my taper and spent it with some of my favourite people.

On Friday night, I headed down to Toronto for a Cereal-Eating, Cards-Against-Humanity-and-Trivial-Pursuit-Playing evening because I like to be wild like that…

We all brought our favourite cereal to the party. I brought Love Grown Power O’s, naturally…

So much inappropriateness ensured.

The next morning, we all met for a long ride to Oakville. We went did an easy 80 KM because two of us are doing Boston next week, but it was awesome to take my shiny new OPUS bike out for her maiden voyage!

It was great to take the bike out for a spin and get some outdoor training under my belt. My first bike race is in 2 weeks and I am excited! Paris to Ancaster is going to be amazing! I was speaking to the race director this weekend and he said they have never had more people racing than this year. There still is opportunity to sign up!

If you have any questions about racing this event, feel free to contact me.

Saturday evening was a family affair! My cousin just had a beautiful baby boy and it was so great to meet little Huxley.

Yes, I came straight from a long ride to a family dinner. I call it Grubby Chic.

And to get Gramma kisses.

Sunday, I ended up on a sunny afternoon hike at a local beach. The weather is FINALLY warming up and I am SO excited.

It was the kind of weekend that leaves me feeling so so so lucky for everything and everyone in my life. This Boston build was shorter than I would have liked but I feel ready! This week, I will be chatting about preparations and next week will be recapping so bear with me if you are not about Marathon Monday.

Looking back on training this week:

MONDAY: 12 KM treadmill run, 5 KM at 3:55/km
TUESDAY: 1 HR spin class
WEDNESDAY: 8 KM treadmill run
THURSDAY: 1 hr gym session with light cardio and weights
FRIDAY: Easy 6 KM run
SATURDAY: 80 KM cycle
SUNDAY: 16 KM easy long run at 4:39/km

Next up? BOSTON!

What did you do this weekend?

Gahh your weekend looks like so much fun! That’s awesome that the weather is finally getting better AND you got a long ride in, AND you went to the beach! You are so going to kill Boston next week and I can’t wait to hear all about it. An uninjured Jess fueled by Power O’s? Watch out, Meb!
