Goals for October 2016

So did September actually happen or did we jump from August to October, because that is exactly what it felt like!

The good news is, I stroked everything off my goals list so even though it was a bit of a wild ride, it was another beautiful September. Here were the goals I set last month.

Successfully complete my first international, 4 day adventure race.

rig

Well, we won our category so I am going to chalk that up as successfully completing it. 🙂

Clean out my closet and dresser, purge what I don’t use and host a clothing swap

I cleaned out my closet and purged what I haven’t worn in the past year, but have had zero time for a clothing swap. Let’s just chalk it up to the fact I am waiting on my friends to do the same before hosting?

Run a strong Ragnar race in Adirondacks, NY

We did an incredible job as a team and snagged a podium spot as an ultra team. They will be providing a full recap coming soon!

Successfully execute a huge 4 day work event

market

The PR team took on a few extra projects and presentations over our Dealer market and combined with the usual media interviews and networking, we were kept on our toes. It is always a bit of a whirlwind, but I absolutely adore the people I work with and it makes it so much better when you receive support from them.

Now that my two biggest fall races and the largest fall work event is behind me, what is next in October?

Up that strength training

I have already started going twice a week, but during this time, I want to commit to lifting at least three times. I am easing back into it because MAN it makes me sore, but I want to even out my inbalances and start 2017 ready to GO!

Explore Nova Scotia

I am headed out east for the first time to go to the wedding of my partner in crime at work and I am so dang excited for her and also to check out some local seafood, hill training and sunsets over the water. It’s going to be amazing.

Give Back

Because I have entered my off-season, I want to do all the things I normally don’t have time for. I am volunteering with students from Conestoga College and the University of Waterloo because my own graduation is close enough in my review mirror for me to remember how overwhelming it is to graduate and head out into the big, wide working world. I love hearing their stories and offering anything I can, although my own career story was more just trying everything until I found something that was perfect rather than a well executed career plan. Sorry to everyone in advance…

Set up a training cave

I have some exciting plans for my living room. More details pending.

Start Christmas Shopping

What? 😐

What’s up for you in October?

A training cave – that is hilarious! And an excellent idea. Where in Nova Scotia are you going? I am sure it will be beautiful in the fall!

I haven’t really thought beyond the marathon next weekend for October goals! Live it up in Portland for a week, pull off our work conference at the end of the month, and get moving forward on some outside-of-work communications consulting.

LOL I feel the same way about jumping from August to October. I have no idea where September went, but clearly you were just out there KILLING IT in all aspects of life. I’m so proud of you for your epic race and work accomplishments, my friend. One of my goals for October, like you, is to get all over that strength training. I was deadlifting this morning and know my muscles are going to be reminding me of that tomorrow morning! Have a wicked time on the east coast and good luck with that Christmas shopping!
