Goals for November 2017
You guys – I love goal setting. I think it has something to do with the fact that I am a list person. Accomplishing something, whether on a to-do list or a bucket list provides that very satisfying feeling of accomplishment and I love setting new mini-goals at the beginning of each month.
With the end of the year just two months away, I am also starting to think about how I want to reframe my goal setting for 2018. I have a few ideas and will be changing that process up a little bit but more on that later. Here’s how I did in October.
Celebrate someone pretty dang important
We had a pretty awesome month and celebrated his birthday and our anniversary with friends and lots of bike rides.
Start a new blog series
I rolled out the My Sport Isn’t All I’m Crushing and there is a new edition each Friday. You can check out the first two features below:
Start a new mentoring project
I have met with the organization and gotten the ball rolling. This looks like it will be happening early next year, but in the meantime, I have picked up a few other projects to work on. It’s been an awesome month.
Run a 5 KM
Check! And a shiny new 18:14 PB.
What am I hoping to accomplish in November?
Do a cleanse for the month
Not that I am thrilled about this one, but I am needing to clean up my act a little bit going into the holidays. I normally do a reset around this time and I work with my sports nutritionist to make sure that I do it properly. It isn’t overly complex (because she knows I would cheat if it was) but I started easing into it this week and I am almost immediately noticing positive changes.
Kick off Gala/Christmas Party Season

Circa 2015
Bring out the evening gowns and hair extensions – it’s time to party! Probably the WORST month to be doing a cleanse but I have a number of both work and play-related galas and parties this month so it is time to get my sparkle on. I need to get my outfits organized so if you have any dress style suggestions, I can always use some ideas.
Do another 5 KM
Again, this one is just for fun and I am treating it as a workout. It is a cheap and cheerful race without all the bells and whistles, just a nice scenic course and a timing map called Musagetes 5 KM. I find that it is helpful to have little mini events while I am off of my formal training plan to help keep me motivated to not skip basic fitness workouts.
Get all my Christmas shopping done
I think this is on my list every November and I think that this may be the year that I am able to make it!
And that’s all for this month, friends. Happy Wednesday!
You have been busy! I like to do a little reset right before the holidays as well. It’s challenging this time of year for sure
Challenging but so so necessary for me. Hope your reset goes well!
You’ve been super busy! Good luck getting all your christmas shopping done this month!!
Thank you Abbey…it certainly is a big goal every year… 🙂
I can’t believe we’re already moving into holiday season! good luck getting everything done
Thank you, Rebecca…I just might need it!
I usually manage to get my Christmas shopping done in November (bless Amazon and online shopping) and it really does take the biggest weight off of my shoulders for December and I always find I’m more planned, I find more meaningful gifts as opposed to last minute gift cards and I keep my Christmas spending in check.
Good luck!
I hear ya, Stephanie. I normally try to get things done on Cyber Monday. I am with you – I love getting meaningful gifts for people.
Sounds like you had a great October and an amazing November on tap! Way to go!
Thanks Rachel. Have an awesome day!
A great list of goals for sure!! Love the idea of the mentoring and the cleaning out before the holidays!
The whole cleaning out before the holidays is so necessary for me. 🙂
These all sound like such great goals for the month!
Thanks Jessica! Have an awesome day. 🙂
I am the worst at Christmas shopping early! The holidays always fly by way to fast with a flurry of activities in this household of 5! Great job on your 5k and good luck on your next one.
Household of 5?! And here I am complaining about just my stuff. You are a super star Michelle!
Love your goals! I always get really excited for the holidays this time of year so I think I’m going to set a goal with you to get all my Christmas shopping done – that way I can slow down and just enjoy time in December. 🙂
That is a huge part of why I do it. I love being able to just take in and enjoy one of my favourite times of year! 🙂
Sounds like a productive month ahead – good for you, Jess! Would love to hear more about your reset/cleanse…sounds like something I could use too 🙂
