December Goals – And I How Did in November

Good morning, everyone!

I hope the weekend treated you well. I had a lovely, relaxing weekend with family, friends, church and a lot of stroking things off my to-do list which is GOOD because on Friday night, I went out to eat with a close friend and ended up with a nasty case of food-borne illness that had me down and out for the rest of the weekend.

On to happier things – Let’s take a look at my November goals, shall we?

1. Learn how to code! A

Let’s put it this way – I TRIED to learn how to code. I made a mistake in the class that stumped the instructor to the point where she told me that she had never seen anyone mess up code that badly. So maybe an A is not in order, but I took the class through a local organization called Hackademy and they were fabulous about teaching the basics to newbies like me!

2. Complete my first trail duathlon. A+

Done! I had a lovely time meeting some of the talented local athletes and I came in first female for the race. You can read my review here.

3. Heal my Achilles Injury. B

Healing it may have been a bit ambitious, but I certainly took strides to ensuring that I was on the road to recovery. I have been seeing a naturopath to decrease the amount of inflaming foods in my diet and keep me race ready. I also have had one round of treatment of acupuncture. I will be writing more about the experience later, but let’s just say it hurts a lot more than what I expected!

4. Get my Christmas shopping done! C

I have it about 60% done, but I keep adding people to my list so it keeps growing!!! I am headed stateside for vacation mid-December and should have more time on my hands to make sure it is all completed by Christmas.

5. Take a professional development course. A+

I just completed the course last Friday and it was a wonderful learning experience for me. I am looking forward to using the knowledge to doing a better job at my workplace and it also directly benefits things I do outside of my job so I am a happy camper.

So on to December! What do I want to accomplish?

1. Enjoy a beautiful trip to Arizona with my family and hike down into the Grand Canyon with my father.

This shouldn’t be that hard, but it is one of the biggest things on deck for December!

2. Create a vision board for 2014 and assess how I did for 2013.

I have the date booked for the vision board creation, now I just need to go and actually map out what I want to accomplish. Sky is the limit this year!

3. Spend some time re-vamping my space.

I have some cool ideas for redesigning my room and I am looking forward to making it happen.

4. Begin physiotherapy on my ankle.

I want to start running again in January and the best way to ensure that is to call in a few experts who know what they are doing! I have officially given up on my ability to heal it on my own.

5. Focus my time more on others needs than my own.

I have an exciting opportunity this month with a local Christian organization which I will be sharing over the next week or so. It is an exercise in getting beyond yourself, which is something that we all struggle with. I want to be selfless and kind all the time, but you’ve got to start somewhere and that somewhere is December!

Love the coding…I can only imagine how that went down!

You’ve got some exciting looking “chill” goals for December; They may not be very chill for others but compared to what you normally have lined up every month, redesigning your room and hiking the Grand Canyon appear relaxing!! I hope they can be. 🙂

As far as my goals for December, start using that 5×7 Blue Mountain investment, be smarter than I have been in previous years regarding all the foods I eat over Christmas and FINALLY join Gospel Echoes inside prison walls for Christmas Cookie distribution.

Also, I’m counting on seeing my friend Jess this month… 🙂

O gosh..you know me and details.

And yes, I am looking forward to a relaxing, family filled December.

When you use that Blue Mountain pass, think of me! I have a pass as well and I want to whip out that old snow board and learn to ski too! I have Kaitlyn time scheduled in with BOLD letters so let’s hit the slopes, brew the coffee and fire up the xbox! It’s a K&J ChristmiGus!

Just seeing someone besides myself type “ChristmiGus”…well, it’s like an early gift.

        And it is ON!
